Top Real Estate Mobile Apps

November 16, 2011

Mobile devices have been a game changer. No longer are you out of the loop when you’re out of the office. No more carrying a laptop and looking for a place to plug in for email or online access – at least that’s true if you have a smart device. Experts believe mobile devices will become the dominant way to access the internet by 2014.

So, what are the best apps for busy real estate professionals who need to make the most of every minute they’re away from their desk? Here are a few that can boost your productivity in work and play!

Evernote:

This amazing little app lets you capture thoughts, lists, photos, voice memos… and store them in easy-to-find notes on your mobile device that can be synched with a computer. Some practical uses for real estate professionals: take photos of homes, receipts for expense reports, business cards for later input, meeting notes on a whiteboard. Drop web pages into a note to save for later reference. Add voice memos to a note to capture a thought or reminder.  Free. Available for iPhone, iPad, Adroid, Blackberry, Palm.

Dropbox:

Have you ever wished you had a document with you, but it’s stored on your office computer? Dropbox is an excellent cloud solution. You can store documents, videos, and photos in the cloud, and access them on all of your devices. Make updates and they’re synched across your phone, laptop, tablet, or any devices you set up with Dropbox. Take a video of a home on your mobile device, drag it into Dropbox, and pull it up on your computer later. Take photos, store them in Dropbox, and then upload them to your social networks when you’re back at your desk. Dropbox is free for 2 GB of storage.  Available for iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry.

Vlingo:

Don’t have an iPhone 4s, but want to be able to use Siri-like voice commands? You can with Vlingo, a powerful app that lets you command your phone to text, email, make calls, update your Facebook or Twitter status, search the web, and more… all by voice.

AroundMe:

Find just about anything that’s close to where you are, a must for real estate professionals who want to be a credible resource. Where are the closest banks, parks, and bakeries? Where can you find pizza or dry cleaners? AroundMe can tell you with a simple click or two.  The app is free and available for the iPhone, iPad, and Android.
